Shadows shelter silence. Words harbour weight. Pages promise peace. My poems open gates.

Robin Gittens is an emerging poet who weaves words around grief, identity, heritage, regret, stigma, childhood trauma and albinism. His poetic tales invite you to dig beneath the surface, confront pain and reclaim your voice and spirit. A candid storyteller, Robin continues to sharpen his craft, pursue his publishing goals and connect with communities of like-minded creatives.

To Reclaim Power Through Poetry

After more than two decades in technology, Robin slowly recognized his tumultuous reality: the digital products he helped build could no longer carry the weight of his creativity. Poetry—an art he secretly practiced since childhood—offered a path to confront pain, reclaim his spirit, and reclaim his voice.

Robin’s background in Product Management and UX Design still informs his creative work. Those disciplines taught him to listen with curiosity, think critically, honour structure, discover patterns, and create meaningful experiences (stories) with care and intention.

Penning poetry allows him to move beyond the surface. It asks him to transform lived experience into language—as a form of healing, witness, and expression.

From Product to Poetry

Manuscript

Across seventy-five poems, Finding My Voice moves through personal memory, trauma, natural disaster, haunted places, comic book mythology, companionship, and spiritual reclamation. What began as trauma-led catharsis has become a deeper act of healing: a way to reclaim voice, honour the inner child, and transform the word “albino” into courage, dignity, and hope.

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.”

— Robert Frost
