Robin Gittens is a Toronto-based poet exploring trauma, identity, albinism, heritage and healing. His poetry invites you to confront your pain and reclaim your power. A candid storyteller, Robin continues to sharpen his style, pursue his publishing goals, and connect with other like-minded creatives.
From Product to Poetry
After more than fifteen years in technology, Robin recognized that the digital products he helped build could no longer carry the weight of his creativity. Poetry—an art he had practiced privately since adolescence—became a way to confront pain, reclaim his spirit, and reclaim his voice.
Robin’s background in Product Management and UX Design still informs his creative work. Those disciplines taught him to listen with curiosity, think critically, honour structure, discover patterns, and design meaningful learner experiences with care and intention.
Poetry lets him move beyond the surface, transforming lived experience into language as a form of healing, witness, and expression.
The Manuscript
Across seventy-five poems, Robin's manuscript, Those Colours That Coat Us, moves through personal memory, trauma, natural disaster, haunted places, comic-book mythology, companionship, and spiritual reclamation. What began as trauma-led catharsis has become deeper healing: a way to reclaim his voice, honour his inner child, and transform the word “albino” into courage, dignity, and hope.
The manuscript is currently under review and revision!
